Incredible Art Deco period glazed earthenware sculpture by Edgardo Simone (Italy, 1890-1948). It is titled "The Heir) and you can see what appears to be a WWI helmet at her feet. So apparently the mother is mourning the loss of her husband and the child is now the heir to her family. It looks like there is a Purple Heart or comparable medal on the helmet. It is signed twice and dated 1944. It measures 15'' tall x wide x 10.5'' wide and 7'' deep. E xcellent condition for age with some firing lines inside the sculpture with a small hairline that goes up the base from the interior as shown but no other chips or cracks to exterior. It weighs 10 lbs 10 oz before packing. Items I sell are not new. They have been used so do not expect mint condition unless otherwise noted. Measurements are approximate and may not be totally exact.
